Apostolic Teams

The ministry of GAP grew out of a long standing relationship between Emile and Joshua who shared a common vision to see the Body of Christ built up in the faith and participate in impacting the world with the power of the good news of the Gospel. The original apostolic team is made up of Joshua Churchyard, Charles Barry, Ivor Temlett and Emile Wolfaardt. Since then, other regional teams have been established.

These apostolic teams are accountable to one another and normally share with each other about all the significant decisions they make. There is a healthy relational accountability that is designed to submit to one another’s strengths and protect each other from their weaknesses.

The apostolic teams exist to serve and coordinate efforts amongst the churches that choose to participate in the vision of GAP. They also have a heart to see spiritual and physical needs met in the lives of individuals and churches.

The association with GAP is completely voluntary and the relationship of local churches to apostolic teams functional so that the task of discipling the nations can be accomplished more effectively. At any time that churches choose to move out of relationship with GAP they are free to do so. The purpose of association is intentional cooperation and relational accountability.

Team Function

The apostolic teams have the following opportunities for partnership with the local churches that relate to GAP:

  • To provide an environment where Pastors and church leaders can enjoy the richness of meaningful relationships.
  • To seek to edify and equip lock churches so that they can better fulfill the mission God has given them.
  • To help create a context that fosters healthy church and inter-church relationships and affiliations.
  • To foster cooperation between churches in trans-local projects.
  • To be a source of counsel for Pastors, church leaders and churches.
  • To assist local churches with outreaches, revivals, rallies and other such events.
  • To be a source for the churches who wish to work through problems related to doctrine, discipline or direction.
  • To be a resource house for Pastors, churches and church leaders.
  • To match physical resources with physical needs.
  • To co-ordinate the training that GAP does in the different geographical regions.
  • To initiate, motivate and coordinate international events.
  • To build unity with the wider Body of Christ.
